Piotr Kmiecik works as an an Associate Professor at the Angelus Silesius University of Applied Sciences in Wałbrzych, where he also serves as the deputy director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Technology. He is also engaged in conducting architectural-archaeological research, mainly in the Silesian region. His academic interests focus on historical military and industrial architecture, as well as on issues related to the revitalization and exhibition of historical sites in contemporary urban spaces. He is a member of ICOMOS and the author or co-author of numerous scientific and popular science articles.

Justyna Kleszcz scientific interests are based upon non-anthropocentric design and new trends in biophilic urban design. Her side passion is the history of local, regional architecture of Silesia. Her present research refers to the topic of theoretical and practical aspects of urban farming as well as practical aspects of the profession of an architect. She holds a PhD and MA in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture, Wrocław University of Science and Technology. In 2022 she obtained her habilitation. She is also a practising architect and Associate Professor at the Opole Technical University, Poland and a coordinator of scientific discipline architecture and urban planning in the doctoral school.

Dr. Ming Hu is an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture and the College of Engineering, University of Notre Dame, USA. She is also the Associate Dean for Research at the School of Architecture. Her expertise as a Building Scientist and Environmental Engineering Researcher encompasses extensive practical and theoretical experience in decarbonizing the built environment, aiming to mitigate its environmental footprint and human health impacts. Specifically, she investigates the life cycle environmental impacts associated with building technologies and policies, as well as how community and societal priorities can be better incorporated into decision-making processes. Her research methods encompass life cycle assessment, energy modeling, computer vision, and complex relationship modeling (SEM). Three specific research areas are:
· life cycle environmental impacts associated with construction activities
· Embodied carbon associated with building materials
· Health risks associated with housing condition
Hu has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and conference proceedings. She is the author of three books. “Net Zero Building: Predicted and Unintended Consequences” was published by Routledge in 2019. “Smart Technologies and Design for Healthy Built Environments. by Springer in 2020, and “Green Building Costs: The Affordability of Sustainable Design published by Routledge in 2023.

Jakub Świerzawski, works and serves as dean at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Applied Arts at the Academy of Silesia (Katowice, Poland). He is the author of the doctoral thesis titled: “Curvilinearity in Architecture. History. Contemporary. Ideas. Examples”, thesis supervisor: Nina Juzwa, Jan Salm. The thesis was awarded by the Minister of Investment and Development in 2019. He curated the exhibition “Transformation. Katowice 1989-2018” as part of the exhibition series “Identity. 100 Years of Polish Architecture”, organized by the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning (NIAiU, Warsaw, PL). Author and co-author of research papers. He worked with architectural design studios, from this period remained his interest in the problems of designing public utility buildings.
Together with Nina Juzwa, he’s the co-author of the book “Thoughts Dreams Places. Polish architecture in contemporary innovation” (Myśli Marzenia Miejsca. Architektura polska w innowacyjnej współczesności”) published in 2021 by NIAiU. The book was awarded:
